We didn’t want to come out all negative Nancy, so of course you can design your own logo. Anyone can do it.

Most businesses start off this way, using tools like Canva, Fiver and logo generators to create free/cheap logos.

Or go one step further and illustrate your own with a free trial of Adobe Illustrator (it’s what pro Graphic Designers use)

But first, consider this. Is it worth building a brand image, when you aren’t entirely sure what you’re doing?

Common things that happen when you create your own logo

• It may not look professional
• It might not attract the right audience
• you might not set the colours up properly for web and print use
• It might not communicate your brand values
• It might accidentally offend someone
• You might take way too long doing it
• You might end up getting it professionally designed by a branding agency when it looks outdated or your products and services change
• The brand ends up looking a bit bodged together and inconsistent.
• if your using a logo builder on something like Canva, there’s no guarantees that someone else won’t do the same
• You may not be able to trademark it
• it might not stand-out

A logo does a lot for your brand

Your brand identity and logo needs to be easily recognised and tailored to fit your target audience. But, it can be very hard to combine the right fonts, icons, and colours to create an emotive brand identity that your audience will fall in love with and remember.

The final thing we'll say is, you’ll be surprised at how many designers, can fit a brand to your startup budget. Either way, the investment in a good quality logo design, will end up paying for itself in increased revenue.
